Founded in 1978 as Riley Tool and Die, we then operated as a tool and die, fabricating and machining business; for a number of years supplying conveyor systems to the four main automotive manufacturers.
In 1984, trading as Riley-Meggs Industries, we revolutionized safety in hockey with our invention of Megg-Nets™, the first system to allow the hockey goal to dislodge on impact. At the same time, we introduced Cush-Net™ the redesigned hockey goal which replaced the deflector plate with cushions, making it a much safer way to keep the puck from rebounding out of the goal. Soon after, both of these innovative products were made mandatory in all NHL facilities and subsequently community arenas. Since then Riley Manufacturing has maintained a very close association with the NHL, collaborating with various league officials, redesigning products to further enhance safety.
Shortly after our introduction of Megg-Nets™ and Cush-Net™, we revolutionized the game of baseball and softball with our invention of the Mag Base™, safety base system. This patented a magnetic baseball system has been approved by the NCAA, ABBA and the Little League and is in use world-wide.
Five years ago, we took our expertise of more than 20 years as a major subcontractor to companies building dasher board systems, steel ice dams and components and started designing, manufacturing and installing our own brand of dasher boards.
Continuing our mission to improve our products and enhance their safety for players, we have since developed two new products for the dasher board systems. First we designed and developed FlushMount™ Shield, which was created to help alleviate injuries by removing the cap rail/ledge. In June 2011 the system was installed in the training facility of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champions, the LA Kings for NHL operations to observe the FlushMount™ system and to obtain feedback from the players, coaches and officials.
In May 2012 we unveiled our the third invention to improve the safety of dasher boards, FlexPost™ a revolutionary new concept in glass and acrylic shielding supports. When a player hits the glass the support allows the glass to move away from the impact zone, therefore helping to alleviate the threat of injury to the body.
Riley Manufacturing is also a proud manufacturer and supplier of products to soccer, lacrosse and broomball. In addition to manufactured products the company distributes a range of products for teams and arenas including ProWall®, White Ice™, and RinkDeck™ and a number of other sport products.
Our reputation and longevity in the hockey industry speaks for itself. Riley Manufacturing is well known throughout the industry for quality and integrity and our goal is to continue to maintain this high standard throughout all aspects of the business.
